I took my children ice skating on NYD this year. My daughter has some complex mental health needs and always carries some.comfort items with her. She was worried about how this would work at ice skating. I asked the young man getting our skates and he was so kind and helped us find a safe spot near the ice where she could put them and get to them any time she wanted. He didn't make her feel uncomfortable, didn't ask any questions, just accommodated her. It made the whole experience so much better and easier. That sort of instant acceptance of someone's different needs is a huge kindness xx

As ever when I'm asked a question like that, I suddenly can't remember a single act of kindness I've ever witnessed, although I know there are many!

The only thing that comes to mind right now is when a friend from the US I had never met in person, someone I'd started talking to online over our shared love of writing, sent me a snack hamper when I was in the finishing stages of my PhD. It was so thoughtful and unexpected and legitimately made me tear up.
